"May I learn to depart from this life as from an inn and not from a home." Those words have stuck with me ever since I heard them in a prayer. May we see our lives in this world not as being in our home, but as being in a hotel. When we die, we get to go to our real home in heaven. Believers in the past realized that. "They admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth....They were longing for a better country--a heavenly one" (Hebrews 11:13,16). Over the past months, God has been loosening our grip on the things of this world, hasn't he? He's been reminding us that this world isn't really our home. "May I learn to depart from this life as from an inn and not from a home."

It's hard to be patient, isn't it? We know that faith is believing in things we can't see, but it's still hard to wait. It's hard to be patient. Long ago, Abraham found the key to patient waiting: "He considered him faithful who had made the promise" (Hebrews 11:11). God is faithful! Abraham had to wait over 25 years to have a son. I bet it wasn't easy. It was hard to be patient! But God is faithful, and he kept his promise. The people of Israel had to wait thousands of years for the Savior to come. I bet that was hard! But God is faithful, and he kept his promise. When it's hard to be patient, remember this: God is faithful!
