On the first Sunday of Epiphany, the Father called Jesus his Son at his baptism. On this Sunday, the Father calls Jesus his Son at his transfiguration. His identity as the Son of God is demonstrated by the glimpses of the glory of the Lord. We join Peter in wanting to remember that. But ultimately the glory of God is demonstrated in his crucifixion and his resurrection, and that’s the context we want to preserve in faithful memory for the rest of our lives. We are co-heirs of his glory!
