Jean Bakeberg
2nd Grade Teacher & School Music Coordinator
Mrs. Bakeberg is a graduate of Dr. Martin Luther College. She previously taught at First Lutheran School in Green Bay for thirteen years before coming to St. Paul in 1999. In addition to teaching second grade, Mrs. Bakeberg teaches upper grade classroom music. She also serves as the school’s Junior Choir director for grade 4-8, and is one of the church’s organists.
Rachel Blum
Extended Learning Teacher
Mrs. Blum is a graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee, WI. Mrs. Blum has been teaching at St. Paul since 2018. She previously taught in West Allis Public Schools as a first, second and third grade teacher for seven years. Mrs. Blum received her synod certification in 2019. She serves as one of the school’s girls’ volleyball coaches and is an Extended Learning teacher and the 8th grade Spanish teacher.
Jared Brennan
7th/8th Grade Teacher & Tech Director
Mr. Brennan is the 7-8th grade teacher and Tech Director here at St. Paul Lutheran, Green Bay. He began teaching here at St. Paul in 2021. He is originally from Watertown, Wisconsin, and attended Luther Preparatory School for high school. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in history, and he worked for MetLife for a short while until he returned to school to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. He has taught at Westside Christian in Middleton, Wisconsin (1 year), St. Stephen's Lutheran in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin (4 years as a teacher, 2 as a principal), Grace Lutheran in Oshkosh, Wisconsin (3 years) and St. Paul Lutheran (2 years).
Jan Herre
3K/4K Classroom Aide
Mrs. Herre started as a part-time aide for St. Paul's Early Childhood program in 2014. Her position expanded to full school days in 2019 as an afternoon session was added to accommodate our growing enrollment. Mrs. Herre is a 1985 graduate of Shoreland Lutheran High School in Somers, WI.
Clair Jammer
6th Grade Teacher & Athletic Director
Mr. Jammer is currently teaching Grade 6. He also teaches grades 5, 7-8 science, grades 2, 3, 5-8 physical education, and grade 2 hymnology. Along with his teaching responsibilities, he serves as one of the school’s athletic directors. He graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College (New Ulm, MN) with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree (Major - Elementary Education, Minor - Science). Before accepting a Call to serve at St. Paul Lutheran, he served Trinity Lutheran (Nicollet, MN) for six years.
Jean Jammer
Kindergarten Teacher
Mrs. Jammer graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN with a degree in Elementary Education. She served as the Kindergarten teacher for three years in Nicollet, MN. After taking a few years off when her children were young, she resumed her teaching at St. Paul Lutheran in Green Bay in 1993. She taught preschool for two years and became the Kindergarten teacher in 1995. At St. Paul, Mrs. Jammer is the record keeper for the school’s honor roll, sports, and all other extra curricular awards.
Melissa Koenig
1st Grade Teacher
Ms. Koenig is a 2018 graduate from Martin Luther College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in both elementary education and instrumental music. She grew up in De Pere, Wisconsin, and attended Fox Valley Lutheran for high school. After college, she was assigned to St. Mark Lutheran in Bemidji, Minnesota, where she taught kindergarten, first, and second grade for five years. At St. Paul, she serves as the first grade teacher while using her musical gifts to edify the school and church.
Elizabeth Malme
3rd Grade Teacher
Mrs. Malme graduated from Martin Luther College in 2018 with a degree in Elementary Education and K-12 Spanish Education. After graduating, she was called to teach grades 5-8 at Trinity Lutheran School in Marinette, WI before switching to teach 2nd-4th grades in 2019. During her time at Trinity, she also did some music and served as technology coordinator and assessment coordinator. She has been teaching at St. Paul since 2023. Mrs. Malme recently completed a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Special Education.
Stephen Miller
Principal
Mr. Miller is the principal and teaches some of the math classes at St. Paul. He graduated from UW-Green Bay in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in secondary education. He also has a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Marian University. Before joining the St. Paul team, Mr. Miller served for 25 years in the Green Bay Area Public School District as a classroom teacher, building administrator, and central office administrator.
Kristin Nelson
3K/4K Teacher
Mrs. Nelson joined the St. Paul staff in 2017. She is a graduate of Martin Luther College. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades in Muskego WI and was a volunteer, piano teacher, and classroom aide at Risen Savior in Mankato, MN while her children attended school there. She also taught preschool in Mankato for two years. Mrs. Nelson is one of St. Paul's organists and also leads the women's group Bible study.
Gretchen Plitzuweit
Extended Learning Teacher
Mrs. Plitzuweit is a coastal native from Washington State. She graduated from Martin Luther College in 2002. She began her career in San Jose, California, giving release time to the music director by teaching 4th grade Social Studies and Science. She also created a cumulative art curriculum and taught art classes for grades 1-8. Mrs. Plitzuweit joined the St. Paul team as a part time 3-4 grade teacher in 2008. She moved to being the full time 3-4 grade teacher in 2013. In 2021, Mrs. Plitzuweit transitioned out of the classroom and into our extended learning program full time. She is currently working on receiving a Masters Degree in Special Education.

I went to St. Paul from Preschool to 8th grade. I graduated from FVL. Got a certificate for CNA. I love that I am able to work at a school that I attended when I was younger.
Rhiana Revell
3K,4K Classroom Aide
I began serving at St Paul in 2021 in the after-school care program as well as a part time aide in 3K/4K. This year I will be a full time aide for 3K/4K program. Prior to our move to Green Bay in 2020 I had an in home day care. I graduated from Trinity International University in 2003 with a degree in History. I love having the opportunity to serve the school where my two children attend.
Allonna Schmidt
Teacher Aide
Mrs. Schmidt is the 1st grade Student Aide here at St. Paul Lutheran, Green Bay. She is a graduate of Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. She graduated with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Educational Technology.
Ashley Van Calster
4th Grade Teacher
Ms. Van Calster graduated from Martin Luther College in 2016 with a degree in Elementary Education and Spanish. She previously taught at Crown of Life in West St. Paul, MN for two years teaching 6-8 departmentalized ELA, along with some technology, choir directing and coaching. She taught 2nd grade at Risen Savior in Milwaukee, WI. She took two years off when her first child was born, but has since returned to teaching here at St. Paul in 2021. She teaches in our 4th grade classroom along with teaching 7th grade Spanish. She has taken on the role and responsibilities of the school's Social Media Coordinator.
Aaron Wellhoefer
5th Grade Teacher & Assistant Athletic Director
Mr. Wellhoefer graduated from University of Wisconsin Green Bay with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a minor in education. He previously taught middle school math in the Green Bay School District before joining St. Paul in 2023. Mr. Wellhoefer is currently working on getting synod certified through MLC. He is currently serving as the 5th grade teacher and assistant athletic director.
Julie Zabell
3K/4K Teacher & Early Childhood Director
Mrs. Zabell serves as the Early Childhood Director and teaches 3K and 4K at St. Paul. She graduated from Martin Luther College with a major in Elementary Education. In recent years she has taken several post graduate classes with an early childhood education focus. Mrs. Zabell has been teaching our youngest learners at St. Paul since 2008. She has previous experience teaching grades 7-8 and grade 4 in Thiensville, WI. She also serves on St. Paul's leadership team, and runs a group called "JAMM" (Jesus-Art-Movement-Music) for children ages 0-4 yrs and their parents. She is married to Pastor Jon Zabell and together they have 3 sons and 1 daughter.
Lisa Ziegert
Business Manager & Office Assistant
Lisa Ziegert is a graduate of the University of Green Bay with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked 4 years at Green Bay Day Nursery (now Encompass) before moving to Milwaukee and working at a daycare center there associated with Children's and Froedert Hospitals. Upon returning to Green Bay a year later, she worked at Packerland Packing in the main office handling the employees insurance and workers comp reports. She met and married her husband Jeff while they both worked there and they have 2 children, Mason and Jordan. After leaving Packerland, she took a teaching position at The Cerebral Palsy Center in their Day Care, spending almost 18 years with them. She was hired by St. Paul Lutheran as the Administrative Assistant in August of 2014. In 2019, she worked with Stephen Liebert for about a year to train to take over the Business Manager position from him, becoming the Office Manager. With the hiring of a person to be the Office Manager, Lisa was able to just focus on the Business Manager side of things, handling all of the day to day business items for the church and school.
Zandalee Zimmer
School and Church Office Manager
Zandalee Zimmer graduated from Southern Door High School prior to going to NWTC to study Human Resource Management. She spent 11 years in banking before joining St. Paul in 2023. Zandalee is expecting her first child in October! She loves working with all the students and families that come into the office.
